Adobe Photoshop Adding Text ?

ok, so i am using photoshop CS2 and i came to add text, and clicked on the T to add it, however when i typed nothing appered. Then when i clicked off in the layer box it said what i had typed but had'nt appered on my photo. Any ideas?
