Recovering alcoholics in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches?

If someone is a recovering alcoholic and doesn't drink, or is militant straight-edge, or doesn't drink for another reason, do most Catholic and Orthodox churches offer an alternative to wine? If you were to walk into a church in Russia or Serbia, would you HAVE to have wine if you took communion?
